چکیده

We examine the long-run implication of two models of learning with recency bias: recursive weights and limited memory. We show that both models generate similar beliefs, and that both have a weighted universal consistency property. Using the limited memory model we are able to produce learning procedures that are both weighted universally consistent and converge with probability one to strict Nash equilibrium, the rst example of which we are aware of learning procedures that have this convergence property and also have desirable properties for the individual agents who use them. Learning with Recency Bias

We examine the long-run implication of two models of learning with recency bias: recursive weights and limited memory. We show that both models generate similar beliefs, and that both have a weighted universal consistency property. Using the limited memory model we are able to produce learning procedures that are both weighted universally consistent and converge with probability one to strict N...

Recency, Records and Recaps: The effect of feedback on behavior in a simple decision problem*

Suboptimal behavior can persist in simple stochastic decision problems. This has motivated the development of solution concepts such as cursed equilibrium (Eyster & Rabin 2005) and behavioral equilibrium (Esponda 2008). We experimentally study a simple adverse selection (or “lemons”) problem and find that learning models that heavily discount past information (ie. display recency bias) explain ...

Cognitive Style and Auditor's judgment: Does Cognitive Style mitigate the Impact of recency bias on the auditors’ belief revision process?

Abstract: The purpose of the present study is two-dimensional. First, provide more evidence of the effects of information order on auditors' beliefs, and secondly, examine whether auditors vary their beliefs in different cognitive styles. These goals were achieved through the use of experienced professional auditors. To determine the effects of information sequence, Hogarth and Einhorn’s belie...

Primacy versus recency in a quantitative model: activity is the critical distinction.

Behavioral and neurobiological evidence shows that primacy and recency are subserved by memory systems for intermediate- and short-term memory, respectively. A widely accepted explanation of recency is that in short-term memory, new learning overwrites old learning. Primacy is not as well understood, but many hypotheses contend that initial items are better encoded into long-term memory because...
